Wow, you’re really shaking shit up
A few weeks ago, we asked Midst readers this question: What’s the best thing you’ve done for yourself in midlife so far?
We were blown away by Midst readers’ mix of Big Life Changes, little tweaks that make a big impact, and straight-up awesomeness. Here are a handful of your stories — we’d love to hear from more of you!

Did you read Jancee Dunn’s interview with Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the NY Times?
Here’s a snippet from the full thing in case you don’t have access…
Jancee Dunn: What has been your favorite decade so far?
Julia Louis-Dreyfus: I’m really enjoying my 60s, but I would say my 50s. And by the way, you know how much I loved it? I got breast cancer in my 50s and I still loved it. I just generally felt more confident about who I was as a human being.
What would you tell your 21-year-old self?
Three things. Trust your instincts. It’s all going to be OK. And wear sunscreen. I thought I was olive complected, so I didn’t wear any sunscreen when I was younger. I resisted it completely, like an idiot.
What’s the best thing about getting older?
It seems like more and more is possible. I’m excited to try new things work-wise. I’m excited to travel places and read books I haven’t read.
Last year I took a huge hiking trip in the Dolomites. I’d never been there. There’s an excitement about that, and also urgency. It’s not like: Oh, let’s put it off. Well, we’ll do it in a few years. There’s this feeling like: Hey, let’s get it done. What’s keeping us? I like that.
And older people will tell you to travel while you can.
P.S. We’re starting to plan our first in-person event in Chicago in October! Stay tuned for more info.
