How curiosity can help you get unstuck
If you’re a woman, chances are good you’ve been schooled, scared, threatened, and cajoled into staying where you are, regardless of whether your parents let you go to sleepaway camp or spend a year abroad.
Ask a man why he’s frustrated and he may say he’s not getting what or where he needs to fast enough. Ask a woman why she’s frustrated and she’ll tell you she feels…stuck.
Women talk all the time about how they’re stuck — in their work, their relationships, their lives. And they often blame themselves — for being lazy or indecisive or not motivated enough. Are women prone to getting stuck? Is it a design flaw? No. This phenomenon points to the friction between wanting to move and being afraid to. And gee, I wonder why! If we weren’t flat out beaten, beheaded, or burned at the stake for attempting to leave throughout all of human history, we were gaslit into madness, coddled, and kept close, told that to step out was to be unsafe, unwise, or unkind.
Curious about conscious uncoupling? “Nesting” co-parenting is on the rise for good reason
I will forever remember the moment the trajectory of my life changed. He was holding my hand across the table as we sat in the front window of our favorite local pub. It might have looked like a regular date night to a casual observer. But it was not. I was resisting the visceral urge to pull my hand free, and I could no longer look him in the eyes — the negative emotions were too strong. Instead, I averted my gaze to the reflection of the flickering candle in the window, and watched the heavy snowflakes pile up on the streetscape on the other side of the glass.
Then he sighed and said the last thing I expected to hear, “Alright. I’m going to set you free. I’m going to let you go.” I was flooded with relief that we were finally agreeing to end our marriage. Then I was immediately overwhelmed with fear and worry: What was this going to do to our three kids?
Hormone Rehab: an excerpt of Perimenopause Power
By Maisie Hill
Perimenopause will work you like you’ve never been worked before, but it’s possible that this hormonal and psychological transition will give you exactly what you need in order to be equipped for your remaining years.
It’s an opportunity for you to let go of everything that no longer serves you; to drop all the heavy stuff you’ve been carting around for years. Perimenopause is the perfect time for you to refine and redefine your life; an opportunity to reclaim joy and pleasure; to come into a deeper relationship with yourself; to unlearn putting others first.
Job anxiety? How to find career joy and crush the future of work
By Somi Arian
As humans, we are changing in ways for which we have no previous paradigm. We can’t go back in history and find a time when similar technologies comparably impacted society, and a few decades is a relatively short period in the study of a species. When Socrates said ‘know thyself’ 2,500 years ago, he had no idea how crucial his recommendation was going to become 25 centuries later. So let’s start with an overview of what we know about human behaviour so far.
In this chapter, we will focus on five main personality traits that shape most of our behaviours and how we feel in various situations. We will also take a brief look at three factors that motivate many of our actions and interactions with others. Let’s start by addressing two different approaches to studying human personalities.

F#ck yeah to Forbes 50 over 50
I love me a list. And this list — Forbes’ fourth annual 50 over 50 list — is at the top of my lists list this year.
The 2024 roundup includes entertainers (Missy Elliott, 53; Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 62), artists (Kara Walker, 54); CEOs, founders, and execs (Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, 53), and other visionaries who share many things in common — chief among them: kicking serious ass.

I love a good book list - I can't pass them up. I'm pretty up-to-date on any perimenopause books, but Maisie Hill's book was new to me. When I looked her up, I realized she was a UK author but I can still buy her books in the US.
I love this quote above "Perimenopause will work you like you’ve never been worked before, but it’s possible that this hormonal and psychological transition will give you exactly what you need in order to be equipped for your remaining years."
