I have a few girlfriends who are neck-deep in this book, and they all agree that it's helping them reduce their people-pleasing tendencies more than any therapy they've tried. Question: is this something that could only be written by a menopausal woman, with that high-level wisdom that comes during this time of our lives, and should we all be working toward our own wisdom books???

I think Mel’s use of Let Them, a concept created by someone else, is a bit controversial?

Is it controversial? Would love to hear more. She does talk openly about how her theory aligns with aspects of established psychological theories like the locus of control theory, Buddhist principles, and attachment theory. The Let Them Theory also shares elements with Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

There is a (negative) karmic issue to her work, she appropriated it, despite her claims to the contrary. It's clear she knew about the Let Them movement created by Cassie Phillips (it's on tape), but she won't acknowledge it and she is now trying for the second time to trade mark "Let Them."

She feels like a bully to me. But that is a personal reaction. The other part is just the way it is. She's an opportunist.

Andy Mort does a good job wading through the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryQBcUuN8pk

I agree, her work, the podcast in particular has been very effective for women of all ages. And if she isn’t your bag then that’s ok too! I’d love to hear more about the help with people pleasing you on your friends have felt...I’m sort of the opposite. In my head if I am too pleasing to people, they will get used to it and expect it. Also not a healthy outlook.😂
